GM Car Services
Your Local Car Key Experts For GM
General Motors covers four active brands on the road today, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac, and the key systems across that lineup have moved from PassKey transponder keys through the PEPS proximity fobs that run today's push-to-start models. Michigan is GM country, so a lost or broken key on a Silverado, Equinox, Enclave, or Escalade is a common call for us. LKE Locksmith cuts and programs replacement keys for GM vehicles through 2026, right where the vehicle is parked, which spares you the tow and the dealership wait. We serve GM drivers throughout Oakland County with mobile service from our storefront in Holly, Michigan.
GM Car Key Replacement
We cut and program new keys for Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac vehicles from your VIN, no working key needed. From transponder keys to PEPS proximity fobs, our automotive locksmith work spans GM models up to 2026.
GM Ignition Repair
When a GM key breaks off or the ignition binds, we pull the key and repair or rekey the cylinder. Our ignition repair service handles standard ignitions and push-button start alike.

GM Car Key FAQs
Can you make a GM key if I have lost all of my keys?
Do you program push-to-start GM smart keys on-site?
Yes. GM's push-to-start PEPS smart keys require a professional diagnostic connection to program, and our mobile equipment handles that wherever the vehicle is. There is no do-it-yourself method for these integrated smart keys, so a locksmith or dealer is the only route for a push-to-start GM in an all-keys-lost situation.
My older Chevy lets me program a key myself. Why do I need a locksmith?
Some older GM vehicles do allow onboard programming, but only when you already have two working keys to add a third. In an all-keys-lost situation, or on any push-to-start model, that onboard shortcut is not available and professional equipment is required. If you are down to one key or no keys, a locksmith is the practical path regardless of model year.
Is a locksmith cheaper than the GM dealership for a key?
Usually, yes, and the difference grows on an all-keys-lost job. The dealer route often means a flatbed to their lot plus a possible parts order, piling towing and delay onto the parts-and-labor bill. We come to the vehicle and complete most jobs in one visit. Send your year and model and we will provide an accurate quote for your specific key type.
Should I get a spare GM key made before I lose the original?
It is the least expensive time to do it. Programming a spare while a working key is in hand is simpler and cheaper than an all-keys-lost job, and it keeps a lost or failed key from stranding you. We can produce a spare at a booked appointment, or roll it into another job when we are already parked at your address.
What information do you need to make a GM key?
We need the year, make, and model of your Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, or Cadillac, and proof of ownership, which can be a registration or title with a matching photo ID. Knowing whether your vehicle uses a keyed ignition or push-to-start helps, though we can confirm it from the year and model if you are unsure. The more you share when you call, the better we can confirm the job in advance.
